Ch. 22 and 23

Yesterday we read chapter 22 and you worked on characterization and foil characters.

Today we read chapter 23 as a class.  You started the review for chapters 21-23.

HOMEWORK:
NONE.  Tomorrow be ready to continue working on the review and more with characterization.

Reviewing the case; Atticus's closing remarks

Today we reviewed whole group the case of Tom Robinson.  We also reviewed Atticus's (awesome) closing remarks.

Then you worked on a review covering ch. 17-20.

HOMEWORK:

• Complete review (do not forget there is a #10 on the back of the sheet!)  If you were absent, please email me and I will email you a copy of the review sheet.
• Read Ch. 21

Symbolism in TKAM

Today we discussed the symbolism of To Kill A Mockingbird.  You worked in your groups and worked with questions that I prompted you with.  Then you made connections to the story.

If you were absent today, please get someone's notes and make a copy of them when you return to school.

HOMEWORK:
Read chapter 20 by Tuesday when you return to class.  (Remember you have the field trip on Tuesday).

Ch. 19 TKAM

Today we went over the review guide for chapters 15-17 and I collected it.

Next we read most of chapter 19, stopping for discussions when needed.

Make sure you finish reading chapter 19

Ch. 17 & 18 Readers Theatre

Today with our 25 minutes we did a Readers Theatre for chapters 17 & 18.

You got a snapshot of what the trial looks like.

Read chapter 18 in the book
Make sure the review sheet assigned yesterday is completed for tomorrow. I WILL be collecting them.

TKAM Review ch. 15-17

Although we did not meet today, you were given the review for chapter 15-17 and it is DUE TOMORROW when you walk into class.  These are chapters you already read and the review is not difficult and should not take you long.

Complete the ch. 15-17 review for tomorrow.
If for some reason you do not have it (absent or otherwise), please email me and I will send you a copy.

To Kill A Mockingbird---THE MOVIE!

Today we took a short break from our hectic reading schedule to get in the first 40 minutes of the movie!  Gregory Peck truly embodies Atticus's character and won the Academy Award for his role!

I hope you enjoyed it!

Tomorrow:
We will be viewing the preview of the high school musical "Seussical" from 9-11:30.  We will only meet for a very short time.

Discussing chapters 12-14 / BIG CHURCH tomorrow--no class

Today we went through the review sheet for chapters 12-14 and I answered any questions you had.

Then I assigned you reading: chapter 15 through the end of chapter 17.

We do not meet as a class tomorrow as we have church at the BIG church tomorrow.

Make sure this reading is completed by the time you walk into class on Monday.

Test Today

Today you took a test covering ch. 6-11 (the 2nd 1/2 of part one).

Following the test you worked on completing a review for chapters 12-14.  The review is due tomorrow.

Read ahead to chapter 15 (maybe, see LOOKING AHEAD below)

LOOKING AHEAD:
We will not meet as a class on Friday due to Mass at the Big Church.  I will be giving you a larger than normal reading assignment on Thursday since we are not meeting Friday.  If you want to get a jump on the assignment (busy weekend, etc), you may want to read chapter 15 tonight.

Review for test tomorrow

Today I collected your Fahrenheit 451 Projects.  My sneak peeks have me VERY excited to find out what exactly you all been up to this past month and a half!!

We discussed chapters 8-11 and I answered any questions you had.

Then I gave you the review for tomorrow's test.  If you were unable to attend class today, be proactive.  Call someone for the notes :)

Ch. 12 & 13 TKAM

Today I began by letting you know whether or not you turned in your mock test assigned before break.  If you did not complete it already, you were to have finished it by the end of the hour.

Then you worked on a review sheet for chapters 8-11.

Tomorrow we will discuss the review and talk about the quiz you will have over chapters 6-11 on Wednesday.

After the review sheet you were to read chapters 12 & 13.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Tues: you worked on F451 projects. Remember the due date is April 14!!! The. You read the remainder of ch. 9 and all of 10 in TKAM.

Wed.: created a mock test for ch. 8-10 for TKAM Including 5 t/F questions, 5 multiple choice OR 5 matching, and 2 short answer. You also made a separate key. Then you read ch. 11.

When we return from break we will review the last 1/2 of part 1 of TKAM. Be ready to discuss!
Also, do not wait until the last minute to finish your Fahrenheit 451 projects! They were assigned over a month and a half ago :)
